rain tree .

This is one of my three watercolour paintings done during the stay at Puducheri.
When I see this picture, I recollect the old couple whom I met under this rain tree.
They were waiting near the culvert with their moped to get someone’s help.
The lady was too weak to climb and sit on the seat of that moped.
….. When the old man and old woman gave me a thankful smile, for a moment, I thought, I have done a great thing!

The bull without cart .

.
It was a sultry afternoon.
The dirty dust of the Nagarkovil was showering all over our bodies with the hot and naughty wind.
This bull was resting in the middle of the road and we were on the broken slabs over the sewage near the bus stand.
Martin brought some stones to prevent my paper from flying off.
We were really mad.
A crowd appeared to watch this tamasha.
.

kovalam .

It was a rainy day.
Heavy downpour!
He was a crazy man.
So he went to the beach, alone.
Above the rocks there was a thatched hut, leaking all over.
Roasted shells were served with local liquor.
Two dark skinny children were sitting on a corner, looking at him with their big pale eyes.
They were hungry.
It is obvious.
It’s not the season.
They must me starving.
There are roasted shells.
But they are for the customers.
The man could not eat them when he saw those poor souls.
“If I do not touch the shells, definitely their mother would give it to the next customer”, he thought.
.
While stepping down he couldn’t stop looking back.
He saw those children with happy faces and wide open eyes, having the half eaten shells!
.
